DeQuin Evans suspended eight Bengals games for PEDs

"Hard Knocks" star DeQuin Evans has hit a substantial bump in the road in his quest to land a roster spot with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The team announced Friday that Evans has been suspended eight games for a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy. This is Evans' second violation, hence the lengthier ban.

Evans, 26, was an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky who didn't start playing football until he was 20. He served a four-game ban while on the Bengals' practice squad in 2011.

Evans was featured in Tuesday's episode of "Hard Knocks," explaining how helpful his teammates, including Geno Atkins, had been in helping him learn his position. Carlos Dunlap raved about Evans' hands, calling them "second-to-none." Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has been similarly impressed, saying he "loves" the Compton, Calif., native.

We can safely say Zimmer didn't love this news. Evans' long odds just got longer.
