The New York Jets are hoping lightning strikes twice in their secondary. After a one-year flier on safety LaRon Landry produced a Pro Bowl season in 2012, the team announced Tuesday that they have signed his older brother, safety Dawan Landry.

Released by the Jacksonville Jaguars a month ago, Landry was a liability in coverage for two years on the Jaguars after signing a five-year, $27.5 million contract after the NFL lockout.
On a positive note, Landry hasn't missed a start in four NFL seasons. He recorded 100 tackles last season while holding his own in run support as an in-the-box strong safety. More importantly, he fills a position of need -- likely at a bargain-basement rate -- for a team with salary-cap issues.
Landry should acclimate quickly on the Jets, as he played under head coach Rex Ryan and new defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman with the Baltimore Ravens.
Even with the Landry signing, the Jets still have a need at free safety heading into the 2013 NFL Draft.
