Davis looking forward to playing despite screws in arm

Thomas Davis watch is ongoing in Charlotte, but the Panthers linebacker says there's nothing to see here.

"I'm excited about where I am right now," Davis told NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon. "(My status) hasn't changed, still looking forward to playing on Super Bowl Sunday.

"I want to go out there and play for my teammates because I know I can help this team."

Davis broke his arm during Carolina's win over the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game, but guaranteed that evening that he would play in the Super Bowl. The veteran had surgery on Monday and was nonchalant Thursday about the status of his limb.

"A plate and probably around 11 or 12 screws in my arm right now," Davis added. "It is what it is."

There's clearly an air of optimism surrounding Davis' injury at Panthers camp. On Tuesday, coach Ron Rivera said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that Davis is "healing up nicely. We'll see how he is at the end of the week, but I would not bet against Thomas Davis."

"There are some limitations," Davis admitted Thursday in the locker room to reporters. "I just had surgery on Monday, but at the same time it's been getting better and better everyday, and that's the goal, continue to get better all the way up until next Sunday."

While he didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, it appears that all systems are go for the 10-year linebacker to make his first appearance in the Big Game.
