David Wilson put on Giants' IR; Andre Brown activated

Andre Brown's return could signal the end of David Wilson's deeply disappointing second season with the New York Giants.

NFL Media's Kimberly Jones reported Wednesday on NFL Network's "Around the League Live" that the Giants could place Wilson on season-ending injured reserve when they activate Brown to the 53-man roster.

The Giants must make a roster decision by Thursday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. Jones reported the team likely will wait until the deadline to announce the move. Brown will make his season debut Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. He has been out since suffering a broken leg during the preseason.

This report comes three days after the team announced that Wilson was not ready to resume football activities after suffering a herniated disc in his neck against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

The team's official stance is that Wilson's neck injury is improving, but long-term concern lingers for the former first-round draft pick. A move to IR shows the team is proceeding with extreme caution.

UPDATE: The Giants officially placed Wilson on IR Thursday and activated Brown from the IR-recall list.
