The trade deadline has passed, but several contenders still have major holes. What's the biggest? Let's debate! **More ...**

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Saturday that Sproles had surgery on the upper part of his left hand, a procedure that typically requires four-to-six weeks of recovery time.

Mortensen's report provided far more information than Saints interim coach Joe Vitt has been willing to share about Sproles' condition.

Vitt told the media Friday that Sproles underwent surgery this week to repair a broken hand. On Saturday, Vitt revealed to reporters that Sproles suffered the injury during Sunday night's loss to the Denver Broncos.

Vitt provided no timetable or any other information. He wouldn't even disclose which hand Sproles injured.

"I'm not a doctor," Vitt said Saturday, via NFL.com and NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, who tweeted that Vitt repeated that doctor line three separate times.

We'll let you know if Vitt decides to give the commoners any more peeks under his impenetrable cloak of secrecy.
