Charles Woodson, Clay Matthews making progress

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy might be targeting a Week 15 return for safety Charles Woodson and linebacker Clay Matthews.

Woodson (collarbone) was limited in his two practices this week, including a padded session Thursday. McCarthy wanted Matthews (hamstring) to participate Thursday, but that didn't happen.

"(Woodson practicing) was important. We're obviously on a rep count for the number of padded practices per season, so it was important to get out there today in pads," McCarthy said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's something we also talked to Clay about, but it didn't work out as far as the rehab program he's on. But (Woodson) was very limited."

The Packers won't have a padded practice next week, according to the Journal Sentinel, to keep in line with collective bargaining agreement guidelines. McCarthy would like to see Woodson and Matthews in pads before game action, so his desire to get both some padded work Thursday indicates they could be back against the Chicago Bears.

The NFC North could be decided that day, and the Packers would love to have Matthews and Woodson there for it.
