Then came Sunday, and Buffalo's 48-28 loss to the New York Jets. Not exactly a mood-setter, but Bills coach Chan Gailey isn't panicking -- yet.
"I don't think the sky is falling," Gailey told the team's official site. "Everybody is going to say that, you're going to say that, the fans are going to say that. That's your job to say something like that, I understand that. But I don't believe that in a million years."
Peeling away the score, what should be of concern to Gailey, and all of upstate New York, was Buffalo's inability to get to the quarterback.
The Bills didn't record a sack, allowing Mark Sanchez the space to complete 9.9 yards per pass (he averaged 6.4 through all of last season). Buffalo has time to work this out before the Kansas City Chiefs come to town, but it wasn't a promising first act for a team touted as overdue to make some noise inside its division in 2012.
