Chad Johnson could head north to continue his professional football career.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that the former NFL wide receiver will work out for the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes in Vero Beach, Fla.
"Talks did take place (and) have escalated over the last week," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp told Rapoport.
Which is to say that before his colorful personality became the overarching narrative of his career, Johnson had been a very productive wide receiver. The CFL isn't the erstwhile Ochocinco's first choice, but it's his best option at age 36.
