ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday the Jets released running back Kahlil Bell in order to make room for the wide receiver, according to a league source. Schefter was told the Seattle Seahawks waived Edwards from injured reserve on Tuesday, opening the door for his possible return to the Jets, who will reportedly claim him on waivers or sign him if he passes through.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Jets coach Rex Ryan is fond of Edwards, who would like to return to the team he played with during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

This comes one week after Edwards lashed the Jets on Twitter, calling New York's front office a collection of "idiots."

Despite that outburts, the reunion appears imminent. The Jets reportedly pursued a trade with the Seahawks for Edwards earlier this season. Now they can grab him for next to nothing, and hope he brings a little more than that to a comatose passing game in Florham Park.

UPDATE:Brian Costello of the New York Post reports the Jets will sign Edwards if he clears waivers Tuesday, according to a source.
