Blake Williams off Rams' staff; Gregg Williams, too?

If Gregg Williams is allowed to work again, it looks like it won't be with the St. Louis Rams.

Fox Sports Insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Wednesday the suspended defensive coordinator's son, Blake Williams, no longer is on the Rams' coaching staff.

Gregg Williams hasn't been officially reinstated by the NFL, so any decision about his employment with the Rams or any other team technically is on hold, but Blake has informed coaches he and his dad won't return to the organization.

Blake Williams spent last season as the Rams' linebackers coach and was instrumental in helping coach Jeff Fisher run the defense after Gregg was indefinitely suspended by the NFL for his role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal.

Fisher is a close friend to Gregg Williams and has simultaneously supported him and kept his distance during the coordinator's suspension.

The Rams have Gregg Williams under contract through the 2014 season, but he signed that deal long before the team knew what was ahead for the coach. If he's allowed to work again, it's likely to happen somewhere else.

UPDATE: NFL.com's Albert Breer reported Wednesday night, via a team source, that the Rams plan to hire a defensive coordinator if Williams doesn't come back. Though the Rams are waiting to see what the NFL does with Williams, it's unlikely he'll return in any event, particularly with his son's dismissal, according to Breer.
