The Falcons seemed like a logical landing spot because they're a playoff contender with a need for help across from John Abraham. The Falcons cut pass rusher Ray Edwards this month but felt comfortable with that decision because of the emergance of Kroy Biermann, who has bloomed into a productive starter at left defensive end.
It wouldn't be surprising, from a financial angle, to see Babin clear waivers. Then his contract can be negotiated. The Falcons might be apathetic, but more than a few teams are expected to pounce on the defender if he becomes a free agent. He wasn't himself this season, but Babin is one year removed from an 18-sack campaign, and teams will be willing to see if they can flip the switch.
Pass-rushing help -- at this stage in the season -- is like a golden coin found below a rock. Rare but treasured.
