'NFL Total Access' recap: Season-ending injuries mount

Did you miss Wednesday's "NFL Total Access" on NFL Network? Catch up with this recap:

Mounting injuries

Willie McGinest said there are a lot of injuries to start training camp because players don't always train as hard as they should. Brian Billick added that there is a difference between cardiovascular shape, football shape and hitting shape. He said there is no way to get in hitting shape before training camp.

Chip Kelly's uptempo offense

Ian Rapoport talked about Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly's offense translating to the NFL. Rapoport said the referees will not help Kelly in picking up the pace of play. Kelly said he looks forward to playing within the NFL rules and does not believe the referees will have any trouble keeping with the Eagles' pace. Rapoport also said the NFL is looking into changing the preseason and will be studying starters' playing time for possible improvements. Rapoport reported the NFL is considering lowering ticket prices across the board for preseason games.

Plan for the Cowboys' second preseason game

Desmond Purnell said Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett wants to get Tony Romo into a good rhythm in their second preseason game this weekend at the Oakland Raiders. Purnell said the same goes for other veterans like DeMarcus Ware and Jason Witten. Purnell also said DeMarco Murray is tired of the media talking about him not being able to stay healthy.

New play caller in Big D

Billick feels Bill Callahan calling the plays is a good thing for Dallas as the Cowboys have had time-management problems in the past, and Callahan calling the plays should free up Garrett to concentrate on the clock.

Vick proud of teammates

Breer caught up with Michael Vick who said he was proud of the way his team persevered and handled the Riley Cooper situation.

Pats receivers catching on

Breer said undrafted free agent Kenbrell Thompkins has been impressive at wide receiver for the New England Patriots. Breer also said the Patriots are taking it slow with tight end Rob Gronkowski's rehab and will have a decision to make soon on whether to keep him on the physically unable to perform list for the beginning of the regular season, meaning he would miss at least the first six weeks.

Breer one-on-one with Brady

Brady said he is building a foundation with his new receivers. He added that Belichick is on them to keep making progress every day. Brady said the Patriots will be prepared and ready to go Week 1 at the Buffalo Bills.
