Jonathan Vilma placed on New Orleans Saints PUP list

The New Orleans Saints have placed linebacker Jonathan Vilma on the team's reserve/physically unable to perform list, Saints senior vice president of communication Greg Bensel tweeted Monday.

Vilma, who currently is rehabbing an injured knee, will be eligible to return after Week 6.

Vilma, along with Saints defensive end Will Smith, had their suspensions overturned Sept. 7 by an arbitration appeal panel. Both players had been suspended by the NFL for their involvement in the Saints' "bounty" program.

The Saints also have signed wide receiver Adrian Arrington and tackle Bryce Harris to the active roster.

UPDATE: Vilma expressed disappointment Monday in having to watch from the sidelines for the time being.
