Dallas is making Tyler Smith the highest-paid player at his position.
The Cowboys and the two-time Pro Bowl guard have agreed to terms on a four-year, $96 million contract extension that includes $81.2 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday. The team has since announced the news.
Set to earn $24 million per year, Smith now becomes the highest-paid guard in the NFL, edging out Trey Smith, who inked a $94 million extension with the Kansas City Chiefs on July 15.
Smith has been a reliable and versatile fixture on the Cowboys' offensive line through his first three seasons.
The 24-year-old is coming off his second consecutive Pro Bowl season in 2024, the first campaign in which he solidified his role as the Cowboys' primary left guard.
Selected with the 24th-overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Smith began his career with a position switch, moving over to left tackle in place of an injured Tyron Smith. The rookie would go on to start a majority of his first season as Dak Prescott's blindside blocker, and his versatility has been invaluable for Dallas ever since.
The Cowboys have been busy locking up key players to long-term contracts of late, with Smith's extension following those of cornerback DaRon Bland and tight end Jake Ferguson.
Dallas had picked up Smith's fifth-year option this past offseason, but have signed him on for the long haul following Saturday's big extension.
