'Someone You Should Know': Youth player Juliette Haming

"Someone You Should Know" is a ongoing series that will feature a representative from the football community. Each guest will answer questions around youth football health and safety.

Meet Juliette Haming, a remarkable 11 year old from Elizabeth, New Jersey, who is the first girl to play football in her league.

"There are people out there who don't have the opportunity to do all the things I am able to do. I have to take all the chances I get in life ... I don't [want to] take it for granted," said Haming when asked why she wanted to play football.

As for the other girls out there who want to play, Juliette encourages them to not let others dictate what they can or can't do and says one of the lessons her teammates and opponents learned this season was that on the football field, she's a player just like everyone else.

What does Juliette's mom, Dina, think of her daughter playing football? Well, she has a special way of dealing when the other team parents find out that #13 is a girl. Watch the video to find out!
