Saints punter Morstead reportedly has shoulder surgery

New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead has undergone shoulder surgery, the *New Orleans Times-Picayune* reported Thursday, citing a league source.

Morstead appeared to injure his left shoulder during a preseason game against the New England Patriots while trying to make a tackle.

The second-year pro did not miss a game this season, punting 57 times with a gross average of 45.9 yards -- sixth best in the NFL -- and a net of 38.4 yards per kick.
