Reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs is off the physically unable to perform list, but there is no specific plan at this point -- on the part of either the player or the Baltimore Ravens -- as to when the linebacker will return to the field, three sources connected to the situation said Thursday.

Suggs is taking his rehabilitation from the Achilles tendon he tore in April "day by day," according to a source with knowledge of his condition and mindset, and he has "no idea" when he'll be considered game-ready for the Ravens to activate him.
Suggs practiced on a limited basis Wednesday for the first time this season.
A high-ranking Ravens source said the team's plan always has been to keep Suggs out through the Week 8 bye, with the realistic return date set for mid-November.
Suggs' rehab has gone as well as could be expected, but the team source said he'd be "shocked" if the All-Pro was able to play Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Suggs, however, wouldn't rule himself out for the game against the Texans.
"Come Sunday, I may or may not be out there," Suggs told reporters Thursday.

One issue for Suggs is that he's above his playing weight, a team source told NFL.com and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That's to be expected, as rehabbing an Achilles injury has kept him from necessary football conditioning, and extra weight could put undue stress on the tendon.
But Suggs shot back at the notion that he needs to drop his weight.
"My weight is good, but I'm not in a beauty contest," he said.
The Ravens have suffered two huge injuries on defense last week against the Dallas Cowboys, losing linebacker Ray Lewis (torn triceps) and cornerback Lardarius Webb (torn anterior cruciate ligament).
