Last week
The defending Super Bowl champions' 16-7 victory over the Washington Redskins kicked off the 2008 season Thursday night. ... The Rams opened the season in Philadelphia, where they were defeated 38-3 by the Eagles .

Keep your eye on ...
Steve Spagnuolo's game plan: The Giants' defensive coordinator learned from Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson and is surely paying close attention to the tape of Philadelphia's Week 1 decimation of St. Louis' offense. Even without Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, the Giants still have some great pass rushers and they will look to unload on a Rams offense that looked lost last Sunday.

Giants WR Plaxico Burress: In his last game against the Rams, Burress had 10 catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns. If the Rams secondary plays anything like it did against the Eagles, Burress could approach similar numbers.

Rams QB Marc Bulger: New offensive coordinator Al Saunders has struggled to implement his offensive scheme and Bulger seems uncomfortable in the system. He struggled mightily in the preseason and was unable to get going against the Eagles in Week 1. He must be alert and in complete control in order to survive what figures to be a heavy Giants pass rush.

Rams rookie DE Chris Long: So far, the third overall pick has struggled to make much of a difference. He only had one tackle in three preseason games and made little impact in the season-opener with two tackles and no sacks. He is being counted on to pressure the quarterback and he has to deliver for the Rams to have a shot against the Giants.
