Quick Take: Eagles-Chargers

In Brief

» Last meeting: Matt Ware returned a blocked field goal 65 yards for a touchdown with under 3 minutes remaining, to give the Eagles a 20-17 victory in Week 7 of 2005.
» Streaks: The Eagles have won two in a row, but trail the overall series, 5-4.
» Last week: The Chargers rallied on a last-minute scoring drive to stun the Giants, 21-20. ... Philadelphia was unable to hold on at home against Dallas and suffered a 20-16 defeat.

Keep your eye on ...Darren Sproles' breakaway speed: The Eagles employ one of the league's most aggressive defenses and love to utilize the blitz. One of the best ways to combat such a defensive tactic is to use quick screen plays. The Cowboys ran such plays effectively with Kevin Ogletree last week. Sproles is exactly the kind of dynamic playmaker that can burn the blitz if he catches the ball in space.

San Diego's Shaun and Shawne show: They may spell their first names differently, but Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman are the same when it comes to their importance for the defense. They are the two best pass rushers on the team and their improved play over the last three weeks has coincided with San Diego's three-game winning streak.

DeSean Jackson's big-play ability: When Jackson is able to get into the end zone, it changes everything for Philadelphia. The team is 4-1 and averages 32.2 points per game when he scores a touchdown and is just 1-2 and averages only 19.3 points per game when he does not score. All six of Jackson's TDs this season have gone at least 50 yards and he energizes the team every time he escapes for a long score.
