NFL suspends free agents Tom Zbikowski, Brandon McDonald

NEW YORK -- Free agents Tom Zbikowski and Brandon McDonald were both suspended by the NFL on Tuesday.

Zbikowski, who was waived by the Chicago Bears at the end of the preseason, was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Zbikowski, who went to Notre Dame and was a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 NFL Draft, has appeared in 64 games with 25 starts over five seasons with the Ravens from 2008 to 2011, and the Indianapolis Colts in 2012.

McDonald was given a two-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. McDonald played in 11 games last season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
