NFL Fantasy 2025 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Tight ends for Week 6

You have lineup questions, we have lineup answers -- at least we hope so. Start 'Em, Sit 'Em is here to help fantasy managers make difficult roster decisions. And you know what is a good move? Starting Puka Nacua. But that's too obvious, so you won't see such simple analysis here. Instead, we're exploring more debatable situations. And if you can't find a player you are looking for, please check out the latest NFL Fantasy lineup rankings.

NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, all stats come from NFL Pro, Next Gen Stats or NFL Research.

Start 'Em

Jake Ferguson
Dallas Cowboys DAL

I still get asked the "start or sit" question with Ferguson. He is a MUST-START option moving forward. In fact, he has been the best tight end in fantasy so far. He has nearly 20 more fantasy points than any other tight end through five weeks and leads the position by 12 catches. He has averaged 10.5 targets per game over the last four contests. That is elite volume and production at the weakest fantasy position in the game. Oh, and the Panthers have allowed the most yards and second-most fantasy PPG to tight ends this season. Start him.

Tyler Warren
Indianapolis Colts IND

Warren is on pace for the third-most yards and fourth-most fantasy points by a rookie tight end in NFL history. He is the first rookie TE with 300-plus receiving yards and two touchdowns in his first five career games. He's done a little bit of everything for the Colts, who have given Warren four carries and one pass attempt already -- two things he did in college. He gets a favorable matchup this week against the Cardinals, who have allowed the fifth-most yards to tight ends. He is a must-start fantasy option.

Darren Waller
Miami Dolphins MIA

Back like he never left! The Dolphins had Waller dialed up to 60.4 percent of the snaps last week. In two games this season, he has averaged 18.3 fantasy PPG with three touchdowns. Waller's been productive and very much has looked the part, showing off his catch-and-run ability against the Panthers. He has received three end-zone targets, the second-most over the last two weeks, and was the first read on 20 percent of passes in that span, per Fantasy Points Data. Given how productive Waller has been as an end-zone target, he remains a start.

Evan Engram
Denver Broncos DEN

Engram has been a top-two target for Bo Nix in each of the last two games, and while he has yet to have a big-yardage outing, Engram did score a touchdown and 13.3 fantasy points last week against the Eagles. This could be his breakout performance. The Jets have struggled this season against players lined up in the slot, allowing top-10 figures in yards and passer rating allowed on those targets. Engram led the Broncos in slot snaps in Week 5. He should be squarely in play this week against the Jets, who have allowed the ninth-most fantasy PPG to tight ends.

Mark Andrews
Baltimore Ravens BAL

If you listen to the NFL Fantasy Football Show podcast, you have probably heard my colleague LaQuan Jones talk about how the Rams struggle against tight ends. They have allowed some big fantasy days to the position of late, after yielding the most points to TEs last season. They’ve allowed a top-10 fantasy tight end in three straight weeks, with each scoring a touchdown. Andrews leads the Ravens in red-zone and end-zone targets. I would take a shot in this matchup.

Mason Taylor
New York Jets NYJ

When the Jets were in catch-up mode last week, Justin Fields hit Taylor over the middle time and time again. The rookie finished with a team-high 12 targets and nine catches for 67 yards. He has 19 targets in the last two weeks. If Patrick Surtain II is able to take away Garrett Wilson, we could see Fields once again rely heavily on Taylor. The Broncos have been a tough matchup for tight ends, but volume keeps this rookie in play for those who have been streaming tight ends.

Sit 'Em

Juwan Johnson
New Orleans Saints NO

The first three weeks were fun for Johnson owners. He wasn't necessarily getting a ton of volume, but in a PPR world, he turned in good fantasy days. His targets have declined over the last two weeks, and so have the fantasy points. He has seen fewer targets than Rashid Shaheed and Alvin Kamara in that span, and now Taysom Hill could steal opportunities away as he ramps back up. Given the low floor, I would look to get away from Johnson against the Patriots.

Harold Fannin Jr.
Cleveland Browns CLE

The good news: Fannin scored his first NFL touchdown on Cleveland's trip to London. The bad news: He had just four targets, fourth-most on the team. Veteran David Njoku was utilized more after the QB change from Joe Flacco to Dillon Gabriel. Plus, this week's divisional tilt has the feel of a physical, defensive contest. If you have another option, I'd take it.

Kyle Pitts
Atlanta Falcons ATL

It's awesome that Pitts has played himself back into fantasy relevance. However, he has a tough matchup this week against the Bills, who have allowed the third-fewest yards and second-fewest fantasy PPG to tight ends this season. Plus, there is a chance Darnell Mooney could return to the lineup. There will be weeks to stream Pitts. This isn't one of them.

Theo Johnson
New York Giants NYG

Johnson was added in a lot of fantasy football leagues after last week's seven-target, two-touchdown performance. There's a chance he becomes the go-to target in the red zone for Jaxson Dart and the Giants. But this week, he draws a tough Eagles defense on a short week. Philadelphia has allowed the seventh-fewest yards -- and zero touchdowns -- to tight ends this season.

Cade Otton
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TB

Otton is coming off his best game of the 2025 campaign, as he logged 81 yards and 12.1 fantasy points against the Seahawks. It was his first game with more than six fantasy points this season. Twice, he has been held off the scoreboard completely. The floor is too low and the ceiling is not worth the risk right now. This week's opponent, San Francisco, has allowed just 82 yards and one touchdown to tight ends this season. Don’t chase last week's points.
