New York Giants' Prince Amukamara expects Week 2 return

New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara on Thursday said he's shooting for a Week 2 return to the lineup following a high ankle sprain.

"I am thinking Week 2 is more promising, but I want Week 1 to be promising also," Amukamara said, according to ESPN New York. "They haven't told me 'yes,' (but) they haven't told me 'no.'"

The Giants play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Although Amukamara says he is no longer wearing his protective boot and he is feelings better, a return for the Giants' Sept. 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys might be premature since he has yet to be cleared to practice.

Amukamara suffered the ankle sprain, which the team termed a "moderate" sprain, in a preseason game last week against the Chicago Bears.
