The immediate future of Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is still up in the air.
According to multiple reports out of Kansas City, Maclin did not practice on Tuesday. But, per head coach Andy Reid, "he's making good progress."
Maclin has been diagnosed with "mild" high ankle pain, which is a fairly nebulous designation at this point of the season. High ankle sprains have kept players out for close to a month in the past, and skill position players are especially hit or miss. Reid said he would not have an issue playing Maclin without having him practice, but the question is probably one of function at this point.
The diagnosis was an improvement on an initial fear -- a torn ACL. That would have eliminated Maclin from the conversation altogether.
If nothing else, the Chiefs can consider themselves fortunate that Maclin has a chance to play on Saturday, and that the Patriots will be forced to include them in their game planning process up until the final injury report later this week. Maclin has helped take pressure off other primary targets like Travis Kelce all season long and will be instrumental in freeing him up against a versatile Patriots defense this weekend.

- ESPN reports that results of the test on Davante Adams' right knee revealed a possible MCL sprain and he's unlikely to play against the Cardinals.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Adams told him he felt fine following the Sunday's game but the trainers felt differently. McCarthy said the team will know more on Wednesday.
- Ben Roethlisbergerhas torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Tuesday that Big Ben is day-to-day and "has a chance" to play. He will likely be a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, and will ramp up his workload throughout the week.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that it "doesn't look good" for DeAngelo Williams (foot) to play this weekend against the Denver Broncos. Tomlin said on Tuesday Williams is "still on the outside looking in. I'll leave the door ajar for him." Tomlin added that the veteran does not need to practice in order to play.
