Bills to sign WR Gabe Davis to practice squad

The Bills are bringing back another favorite prior to the start of the regular season this Sunday.

Buffalo is signing veteran receiver Gabe Davis to its practice squad, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.

Davis is still on his road back to the field after suffering a season-ending meniscus injury in November, prompting the Jaguars to release him just one year into a three-year, $39 million deal he'd signed in March 2024. He'll begin on Buffalo's practice squad in order to give him time to finish his rehab and ramp up with the hope of eventually being elevated to the team's active roster.

A fourth-round pick out of UCF, Davis began his career in Buffalo in 2020, quickly proving himself as a productive second option in Buffalo's aerial attack. Over four seasons, Davis racked up 185 catches for 3,204 yards and 33 touchdowns (including playoffs) before attracting a new deal and a pay raise in Jacksonville in 2024.

Davis won the hearts of Bills fans everywhere by making a number of key plays both in the regular season and postseason, including his legendary eight-catch, 201-yard, four-touchdown performance in the 2021 AFC Divisional Round against Kansas City, a contest that Bills fans unfortunately know as the "13 seconds" game. He'll return to a receiver room that looks a little different than it did when he last occupied it in 2023 but still harbors the same Super Bowl ambitions.
