Andre Smith (arm) will undergo surgery, out for season

The Bengals will have to continue their playoff push withour their starting right tackle.

Andre Smith will undergo season-ending surgery on his arm, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, according to a source informed of the injury.

Although Smith's play had fallen off since NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth deemed him the best right tackle in football early this season, he has been an excellent run blocker and solid pass protector throughout his six-year career.

Former Packers tackle Marshall Newhouse, Smith's replacement, has been a major liability over the past three weeks. The Bengals will have to keep a tight end or running back in to help him fend off edge rushers.
