Alabama tops preseason Associated Press Poll

The Associated Press released its preseason Top 25 on Saturday, and no one should be surprised with the team heading the list -- two-time defending national champion Alabama is ranked No. 1.

Alabama received 58 of 60 first-place votes in the media poll, and there will be plenty of intrigue from pro scouts when the top-ranked squad takes the field this season. Crimson Tide LB C.J. Mosley and QB AJ McCarron are among the most highly regarded seniors in the nation.

Ohio State (No. 2) and Georgia (No. 5) each received one first-place vote.

This list may look familiar -- the same 25 teams made the Coaches Poll released earlier this month, and all but six teams are ranked in the same slot.

The biggest disparity in the two polls? There is slight disagreement on Notre Dame, which is ranked 11th on Coaches Poll and 14th on the AP version.
