2024: SEC Newcomer of the Year. Led the team with 801 rushing yards (192 carries, 4.2), 8 rushing TDs. Started all 13 games (177-298-59.4, 2,293 yards, 20 TDs, 4 INTs passing). Birmingham Bowl MVP (160 yards, 3 TDs passing; 17-84, 2 TDs rushing). Followed NMSU head coach Jerry Kill and offensive coordinator Tim Beck to Vanderbilt (Kill was hired as a consultant to head coach Clark Lea). Won an injunction against NCAA to gain a year of eligibility in 2025, arguing that his time playing at a junior college should not count toward his NCAA eligibility; NCAA subsequently gave all former junior-college players whose eligibility was to run out after the 2024 season another year of eligibility in 2025.
2025: Second-team Associated Press All-American. First-team All-SEC. Won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (given to the nation's top upperclassman QB). Finalist for the Heisman Trophy (nation's top player), Walter Camp Award (nation's top player), Manning Award (nation's top QB, including postseason). Ranked third in the FBS in pass efficiency (170.36), and eighth in completion rate (70.6%, 267-378); tied for eighth in passing TDs with 29, a school record (versus 8 INTs). Also set a school record in passing yards (3,539). Started all 13 games (167-862-5.2, 10 TDs rushing).
