Herrien is loose-limbed and has some elusiveness, but the tape is littered with runs where he tastes squared, punishing contact. He's a short-limbed, tight-legged defender with natural power and some funk in his hands. The lack of length and below-average pass rush is a concern, but a move inside should bolster his chances of making a roster or practice squad as a rotational interior defender in an upfield 4-3 scheme.

The former wideout is still learning his way around the cornerback spot, which explains why his technique and feel are a little bit raw at times. He does play with an intriguing combination of early burst and pattern recognition, allowing him to use his length to swat catches away. He has good height, but he also has a slightly built frame that can be a problem for him in run support.
