Would Geno Smith get another chance post-Jets?

The New York Jets enter Sunday's matchup against the Broncos dangerously close to a 1-5 record, and if they continue to allow a competitive AFC East to slip from reality, there's no doubt management will consider changes.

At this point, the responsibility for a turnaround falls on an embattled coach and quarterback, but as NFL Media's Michael Robinson said this morning on NFL GameDay First, Geno Smith is the one who needs to worry.

"I don't know if Geno Smith gets another job in the NFL," the former Seahawks captain said. "I think Rex Ryan does."

If Ryan and the Jets were to part ways, a defensively starved team would absolutely pay Ryan handsomely to return to his former role as a coordinator. The market for Smith wouldn't be anywhere near as active.

While a coach with a strong background in quarterback development might have an interest in a player who was once considered a No. 1 overall pick, Smith needs to display much more comfort against top-tier NFL defenses first.
