Fantasy football owners generally face tough questions on a weekly basis, but Week 3 of the 2014 season offers some particuarly vexing dilemmas. A lot of good quarterbacks face some tough matchups and a slew of injuries in Week 2 have left owners racing to the waiver wire to find suitable replacements. So to try and ease some of your pain, Fantasy Football Audibles tackles some of the most common questions.
Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson face off this week in Seattle in a rematch of last season's Super Bowl. The Seahawks defense is nearly impenetrable at home -- they made mincemeat of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense in Week 1. What's more, Wilson is a much better quarterback in the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field. However, the Broncos defense is much improved over the unit Seattle faced at MetLife Stadium last February. Plus ... it's still Peyton Manning. There's a reason he was the first quarterback off the board in nearly every fantasy draft. If there is a quarterback living who can solve the Seahawk riddle, it's The Sheriff. Trust the guy you drafted early and start Manning.
Week 2 was not kind to fantasy running backs, which has turned Bobby Rainey and Knile Davis into fantasy waiver wire commodities. But what makes Ahmad Bradshaw more valuable is that he's slowly taking over the starting role without the regular starter being injured. Based on what we've seen in the first two weeks of the season (or most of last season for that matter), Bradshaw is far more explosive than Trent Richardson and it seems a near certainty that he'll be Indianapolis' running back of choice before the season is out. Davis will eventually take a back seat to Jamaal Charles when he returns and Rainey is likely to settle into a No. 2 spot behind Doug Martin. Bradshaw is the player who could finish the season as his team's top rushing option.
In Week 2, Nick Foles was big on yardage and with just one touchdown. Jay Cutler was the opposite. Heading into Week 3, nearly everything about these two quarterbacks rates as even. Both are surrounded with outstanding offensive talent in high-powered schemes with quality matchups. But if there's an edge (and it is very slight), it's with Cutler. Credit that to his receivers. The duo of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery on the outside ranks just above the combination of Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper. Both signal-callers should post similar numbers this week.
