Week 14 fantasy football notebook

» It's been a great first half of football in San Diego. Philip Rivers hit Malcom Floyd for an early touchdown, and the Chargers defense added another score on a fumble return for a touchdown. Tom Brady rallied the Patriots back though with a touchdown toss to Rob Gronkowski. - AG

» In the pantheon of irrelevant fantasy touchdowns, Kyle Orton's 1-yard plunge in garbage time against the Broncos would rank among the all-time greats. Peyton Manning's streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass came to an end today, angering fantasy owners who were counting on him in the playoffs. - AG

» The dangerous Seattle duo is at it again against the Eagles today. Russell Wilson has two passing and one rushing touchdown and 251 total yards for over 27 fantasy points while Marshawn Lynch has 77 total yards and a receiving score of his own for over 13 fantasy points. Not too shabby for the fantasy playoffs. *- MF

» Doug Baldwin caught a beautiful touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to give the Seahawks a 24-14 lead after the Eagles had closed the gap with a short touchdown pass to Zach Ertz. *- AG

» Marcel Reece caught a slant from Derek Carr (who has been looking like a veteran today) to give the Raiders a 17-13 lead over the 49ers. Carr is driving his offense down the field again, too. *- AG

» Chris Hogan found the end zone for the Bills to give them signs of life, but Peyton Manning and the Broncos are looking to put this game on ice with A LOT of runs in the fourth quarter. *- AG

» Aaaaand it's a hat trick for C.J. Anderson. Third touchdown of the day for former Cal Bear. *- AG

» An injury scare earlier in the game may have had some Jamaal Charles owners sweating. But following a trip to the locker room, he returned to action. And just like that he scored his second touchdown of the day on an 18-yard catch and run. He already has over 21 fantasy points in the first half. - MF

» After tweaking his ankle, C.J. Anderson returned to the field for the Broncos to score his second touchdown on the day. It's 14-3, Broncos with a little over three minutes left in the first half. *- AG

» C.J. Anderson has looked good for the Broncos early against one of the league's top run defenses, and he just found paydirt to give them a 7-0 lead. *- AG

» Jamaal Charles doing Jamaal Charles things. Things like leaving several Arizona Cardinals defenders in the dust on a 63-yard touchdown run. - MF

» Le'Veon Bell just scored for the third time today on a 22-yard run. He is only the second player in NFL history to have three straight games with 200 total yards. The Bells today, Le'Veon and Joique, have combined for five touchdowns and 368 total yards. And we're not done. - MF

» Joe Flacco now has himself a touchdown run, his second on the season. The Ravens have pulled away from the Dolphins, 28-13 with time running out in the fourth quarter. - AG

» Jonathan Stewart has been one of the bright spots for the Panthers all season ... when healthy. He looks very good today. Hopefully this bodes well for the rest of the year. - MG

» It's not a surprise to see Colt McCoy come back to reality this week. However, an injury has forced him out of the game leading to the return of Robert Griffin III. It's all bad in Washington. - MG

» Ben Roethlisberger just hit rookie Martavis Bryant for a 94-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter against the Bengals. It was the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL this season. The year of the rookie wideout continues in fantasy as Bryant now has scored seven touchdowns in his first seven games as a pro. - MF

» Justin Forsett owners rejoice! After a few failed goal-line plunges from Lorenzo Taliaferro, the Ravens gave it to Forsett and he rewarded them with a touchdown. - AG

» I said it earlier and it continues to hold true rookie Mike Evans has been one of the most valuable receivers in all of fantasy down the stretch. He just scored his second touchdown of the day which gives him 10 on the season and eight in his last six games. - MF

» Le'Veon Bell has 194 total yards on 27 touches and just scored his second touchdown of the day, this time on the ground. He's just six yards away from posting three-straight 200-yard games. Stay tuned. - MF

» T.Y. Hilton just made Joe Haden and co. look silly on an impressive 42-yard catch and run scoring play. He has five grabs for 81 yards on the day with a few minutes left in the third quarter. - MF

» Updated Texans rushing touchdown totals: Blue (1), Fitzpatrick (1) and Arian Foster (1). All is right in the world now as far as the Texans backfield goes. - AG

» Thankfully, A.J. Green resolved his wire-based headphone situation. He's having a huge day with 10 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown after an 81-yard scoring play. Both Green and Andy Dalton have over 26 fantasy points on the day. - MF

» The Saints have let you down in every way, shape or form today. Drew Brees has struggled. Jimmy Graham is once again a non-entity and the defense has been gashed. #Ungood. - MG

» Two touchdowns for a Rams tight end that no one is starting? Yep, it's Too Many (Jared) Cook(s). - MG

» Alfred Blue just vultured a touchdown at the goal line. So for those of you keeping score at home, the Texans rushing touchdown totals go Blue (1), Fitzpatrick (1) and Arian Foster (0). Sigh. - AG

» Le'Veon Bell has been a fantasy monster in recent weeks. He just surpassed the 100 total yards mark for the third straight game and caught a touchdown pass to put the Steelers up 17-14. Antonio Brown also has 100 yards on the day. - MF

» I doubted Andre Williams. Maybe I shouldn't have underestimated the negative power of the Titans poor run defense. Looks like Big Blue won't need Rashad Jennings today. - MG

» You probably gave up on Cam Newton. But he's looking like his former self today with more than 26 fantasy points in the first half. -* MG*

» Mike Evans has been one of the most valuable fantasy wide receivers in the second half of the season. His third catch of Week 14 was a 5-yard touchdown against the Lions. He now has nine receiving touchdowns on the season. - MF

» Feed the Crow! Isaiah Crowell got into the end zone, scoring on a 9-yard run at the end of the second half against the Colts. Crowell and Terrance West have split carries pretty evenly so far. West has 12 for 50 yards and Crowell has eight for 42 yards and the score. - MF

» Joe Flacco just earned his paycheck for the week with a 93-yard touchdown drive in a two-minute drill to keep the Ravens in the game. His short touchdown pass to Steve Smith has the Ravens down 10-7 heading into the half. - AG

» The Colts seem to be having a tough time getting anything going against the Browns. Andrew Luck has completed just seven of 18 passes for 70 yards so far. But on the bright side, he just scored a rushing touchdown on an 11-yard sprint. Hopefully it sparks some more offense for Indy. - MF

» If there's one thing that has salvaged a few of Andy Dalton's fantasy days this season, it's been his ability to score a few rushing touchdowns. Well he added his fourth of the season today on a surprising 20-yard dash and he's already got himself 18.08 fantasy points. - MF

» Joique Bell is back in the end zone after scoring twice last week. Even with Reggie Bush back in action Bell leads the Lions with 10 carries so far. - MF

» You cannot stop Fitzmagic. You can only hope to contain it. Ryan Fitzpatrick took a designed run into the end zone to give the Texans a 10-7 lead. Sorry Arian Foster owners. - AG

» A.J. Green already has six grabs for 91 yards including a 56-yarder to get Cincy into the red zone but it was tight end Jermaine Gresham caught the Bengals' first touchdown of the day. - MF

» Teddy Bridgewater and Charles Johnson are starting to look like the future for Minnesota. They hooked up on what should have been a second touchdown, but Johnson fumbled at the 1-yard line and it was recovered by Jerome Felton in the end zone, infuriating fantasy owners everywhere (or maybe just me). - AG

» Le'Veon Bell fell just inches short of a touchdown, so on first and goal from the 1-yard line, Big Ben threw to Heath Miller for a score. Why Mike Tomlin, why!? Bell already has 58 total yards though. - MF

» Calvin Johnson just scored a touchdown. Are you surprised? - Matt Franciscovich

» The Jaguars engineered a nice scoring drive, capping it off with a short touchdown pass to Allen Hurns to take a 7-0 lead over the Texans. - AG

» The Dolphins have found the end zone first in an ultra-important AFC playoff battle with the Ravens. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, it was Brian Hartline on the receiving end of the the Ryan Tannehill. - AG

» Who would have thought Vikings-Jets would have been so exciting in the first quarter? Teddy Bridgewater hit a wide open Charles Johnson for a 56-yard touchdown to make it 14-9, Vikes. - AG

» Starting to think this Odell Beckham, Jr. guy is going to be pretty good. He has another touchdown catch on a nice throw from Eli Manning and is approaching 100 yards in the first quarter. - MG

» This Vikings-Jets game continues to be interesting. After the safety, Geno Smith hit Percy Harvin for a deep touchdown. Harvin had been booed earlier by the Vikings faithful, and for now he has his revenge.- AG

» This Vikings-Jets game is off to an interesting start. After Geno's pick six, the Vikings surrendered a safety to the Jets when Teddy Bridgewater was crushed in the end zone. So it's 7-2, Vikings right now. - AG

» You won't have to wait until garbage time to get points from Kelvin Benjamin. He snags a touchdown pass on the opening drive of the game. Hopefully it's the start of a big day. - MG

» Well, that didn't take long. Geno Smith threw a pick six on the first play of the game against the Minnesota Vikings. I wish I was making this up. - Alex Gelhar

» You're excused if you were watching the college football playoff selections instead of checking out this week's inactives. So we'll fill you in -- Rashad Jennings is active, but Andre Williams is expected to start. Most everything else has gone according to plan. Let the games begin! - Marcas Grant
