Transactions roundup: Bruce Ellington waived by 49ers

Bruce Ellington can't catch a break.

After impressing the 49ers throughout training camp in 2016, Ellington suffered a hamstring tear and missed the entire season.

On Thursday, San Francisco waived the receiver just one week into this year's camp.

Ellington dropped down the depth chart with Marquise Goodwin, Pierre Garcon and Jeremy Kerley all joining the fold in the 49ers' receiving corps this year.

On top of that, Ellington missed a handful of games in 2014 and 2015 with nagging lower body injuries. The former fourth-round pick caught just 19 passes over those two seasons. If a team is to take a chance on him, he'll have to prove he can stay healthy and productive.

Here's another NFL player transaction from Thursday:

  1. The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms with safety Corey Graham on a one-year contract, the team announced.
  1. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed sixth-year long snapper Matt Overton and first-year guard Malcolm Bunche. The club waived/injured rookie RB I'Tavius Mathers and placed fifth-year long snapper Carson Tinker on reserve/injured list. If Mathers clears waivers, he'll revert to the Jaguars' reserve/injured list, the team announced.
  1. The New Orleans Saints claimed former Colts offensive tackle Jerry Ugokwe off waivers, his agent told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
  1. Linebacker Rufus Johnson has agreed to terms with the Raiders, per agent Sean Stellato. The deal comes just one day after Johnson was involved in a serious car accident.
  1. Defensive end IK Enemkpalihas signed a one-year deal with the Raiders, Rapoport reported, per a source.
