Torrey Smith says goodbye to Ravens, 49ers next?

Torrey Smith has already said goodbye to Baltimore. Will he be saying hello soon to his former teammate Anquan Boldin?

Smith wrote a goodbye message to Ravens fans on his blog Sunday which made it clear his time as a Raven is over. And NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports there is "strong mutual interest" between Smith and the San Francisco 49ers. That would reunite him with Boldin, the receiver who helped take down the 49ers in Super Bowl 47.

Smith thanked a host of people in the Ravens organization for his four years there, including a memorable Joe Flacco shoutout.

"Joe, keep doing elite ish! They don't have to respect you, but we know what kind of player you are. It was a pleasure playing with you," Smith wrote.

Smith wrote that he will be playing for "another organization" and logic says that he wouldn't write this goodbye letter unless he knew exactly where he was going to land at 4:01 pm ET Tuesday. The 49ers have a desperate need for speed at receiver and have a starting job wide open with Michael Crabtree expected to leave via free agency.

Colin Kaepernick's ability to go deep has been hampered by the lack of vertical threats on the 49ers' roster over the last few years. That would certainly change if Smith joins the roster.
