The Miami Dolphins acquired Kenny Stillson Friday, and then traded Mike Wallace hours later.
Deductive reasoning tells us Stills will be tasked with becoming the deep threat Wallace never was in his disappointing two-year run in Miami. Stills doesn't see it that way.
"I don't think I was brought in to replace anybody," Stills said Saturday, according to ESPN.com. "I'm just here to do whatever I can to help the team win. Mike is a great player, and I've looked up to everything he's done."
The Dolphins acquired Stills on Friday in exchange for linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and a third-round pick. Just 22, Stills has considerable upside and comes at a fraction of the cost of Wallace. General manager Dennis Hickey calls Stills "an ascending player."
"I'm not focusing on my ceiling right now," Stills said. "I'm just excited to be here, happy to be here and working my tail off to make sure I can maximize my potential."
Wallace never clicked with Ryan Tannehill. Now the quarterback gets a new deep threat to start fresh with. This could end up being the best non-Suh-related move of Miami's offseason.
