Saints corner Delvin Breaux has broken fibula

The New Orleans Saints defense has encountered a major setback in Week 1.

The Saints' top cornerback Delvin Breaux suffered a broken fibula Sunday against in the team's 35-34 loss to the Raiders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Breaux is expected to miss significant time this season, Rapoport added.

Breaux's leg injury occurred in the second quarter. The corner did return to the game after working with trainers but was eventually carted off the field shortly after.

Breaux signed a three-year contract with the Saints in 2015 after two seasons in the Canadian Football League.
