Roundup: Eagles sign OL Stefen Wisniewski

Two teams from Pennsylvania took a long look at Stefen Wisniewski. The Eagles didn't let him get away.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the free-agent offensive lineman will sign a one-year contract with Philadelphia after also meeting with the Steelers, per a source involved in the deal.

The team later confirmed the acquisition.

After playing center for almost all of his five NFL seasons with the Raiders and Jaguars, Wisniewski was brought to Philly to play guard. He's a better blocker than last year's left-side starter, Allen Barbre, and gives the team true depth at center behind Jason Kelce. Philly also signed right guard Brandon Brooks in free agency, but that won't stop the Eagles from looking for additional O-line help in the draft.

As for the Steelers passing on Wisniewski, Rapoport sees it as another indication that Pittsburgh center Maurkice Pouncey is on his way back after last season's broken leg.
