NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the free-agent offensive lineman will sign a one-year contract with Philadelphia after also meeting with the Steelers, per a source involved in the deal.
The team later confirmed the acquisition.
After playing center for almost all of his five NFL seasons with the Raiders and Jaguars, Wisniewski was brought to Philly to play guard. He's a better blocker than last year's left-side starter, Allen Barbre, and gives the team true depth at center behind Jason Kelce. Philly also signed right guard Brandon Brooks in free agency, but that won't stop the Eagles from looking for additional O-line help in the draft.
Other transactions we're following on this Monday:
- Defensive end Wallace Gilbery signed with the Lions for a 1-year deal worth up to $1.75 million, a source informed told Rapoport.
