Rex Ryan, New York Jets coach, loses 105 pounds

The fat jokes no longer kill in East Rutherford.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan told "Fox & Friends" on Thursday that he's "down 105 pounds" in his quest to shed bulk.

"My big thing is I want to be the Rex Ryan that wins," Ryan told "Fox & Friends" on Thursday. "I did this for health reasons. I'm ready to attack this season."

Ryan, who underwent Lap-Band surgery in 2010, previously lumbered up and down the sideline at close to 350 pounds, according to the team's official site. That's roughly 20 pounds heavier than anyone on the Jets' current roster.

Ryan's etched in the collective mind as the Jets coach who finished a "Hard Knocks" tirade against his players by shouting "let's go get a (explicit) snack!"

Long gone is the old Rex, ripping drumsticks off dead birds, slamming down flagons of mead like a king. Now it's carrots and celery. And Rex floating down hallways, grasping his calorie calculator, mumbling something about Bill Belichick. We're concerned.
