Report: Aaron Murray will work out for St. Louis Rams next week

While St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead has insisted the team is standing behind starting quarterback Sam Bradford, he has also made it known that the Rams are studying up on the signal-callers in this year's draft.

This week, NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah reported that the Rams have "legitimate interest" in Johnny Manziel, and fellow analyst Charles Davis even has Manziel going to the Rams with the No. 13 pick in his latest mock draft. However, the team has also met with quarterbacks projected to go in the draft's second or third day, and according to The Plain Dealer, it has scheduled a private workout with former Georgia QB Aaron Murray for next week.

Murray threw for 20 NFL teams last week at Georgia's pro day, his first pre-draft workout after he suffered a torn ACL last November. NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt gave a positive review of the workout, noting that Murray could "build some serious pre-draft momentum" and possibly sneak up into the second round if there is an early run on quarterbacks.

That second tier of quarterbacks includes the likes of Eastern Illinois' Jimmy Garoppolo, Alabama's AJ McCarron, Pittsburgh's Tom Savage, LSU's Zach Mettenberger and Murray.

In addition to the No. 2 and No. 13 overall picks, the Rams have the 12th pick in Round 2 (44th overall) and the 11th pick in Round 3 (75th overall).

Brandt, who rated Murray as his No. 92 prospect in his updated Hot 100, has said he believes Murray will be one of the draft's biggest steals.
