Texans LB Brian Cushing picked off Carson Palmer with 1:55 remaining in the fourth quarter, ending any faint hopes of another late-game Bengals rally.

Game ball

Texans QB Matt Schaub spread the ball around to seven different receivers and finished 28 of 40 for 382 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Key Stat

The Bengals averaged more than 126 rushing yards per game through the first five weeks, but were held to 46 yards on the ground by Houston's defense. Bengals RB Cedric Benson carried the ball just four times in the second half, as the Bengals went away from the run. Benson entered the game as the league's leading rusher, but finished with 44 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Bengals DE Antwan Odom left the game in the first quarter with a right Achilles injury and did not return. ... This was the Bengals' first game of 2009 not decided by seven points or fewer. ...
