Ranking games in order of intrigue
Why this game is intriguing: In the standings, the meaning doesn't jump out at you. It's not a divisional game, and there isn't a major underlying storyline. This one goes into the category of one that'll just be fun to watch. The NFL's most explosive aerial assault -- featuring Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White -- will be wearing Falcons uniforms, but don't sleep on what the Redskins bring. Rookie sensation Robert Griffin III keeps viewers glued to the screen, and he can do shootouts. Atlanta ranks third in the NFL with an average of 31 points per game, just ahead of Washington at fourth (30.8), making you think this will be a high-scoring affair.
What to watch: Still reeling from back-to-back brutal injuries to their defensive front (Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker, both done for the season), the Redskins have just seven sacks on the season, not applying much pressure at all. If that continues, and if they don't knock Ryan around, it'll be a long day in the Redskins' secondary. Go to sleep for one play and Ryan pounces, as the Panthers painfully learned last Sunday. On the other side, Atlanta hasn't found a way to successfully stop the run, and that's something the Redskins certainly can exploit. The league's best rushing unit not only features a breakout stud at running back (rookie sixth-rounder Alfred Morris), but also an explosive signal-caller in RG3. This should allow Washington to keep pace.
