Quick Take: Redskins/Raiders

In Brief

» Last meeting: Kerry Collins passed for 289 yards and a touchdown as the Raiders knocked off the Redskins, 16-13, in Week 11 of the 2005 season.
» Streaks: The Raiders have won four of the last five meetings, and have an 8-3 overall series edge, including the playoffs.
» Last week: The Redskins coughed up a late lead and fell to the Saints, 33-30, in overtime. ... The Raiders scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns to shock the host Steelers, 27-24.

Keep your eye on ...Washington's fragile psyche: The Redskins have squandered fourth-quarter leads in three consecutive games against playoff caliber teams, and seem to lack the resolve to put teams away. On the flip side, the Raiders have won two out of three by rallying late in the fourth quarter. Oakland may have Washington right where it wants it, if the Redskins have a fourth-quarter lead.

Quinton Ganther's audition: With Clinton Portis put on IR, the Redskins will be using a committee backfield approach, splitting carries between Rock Cartwright, Ganther and Marcus Mason. Washington added Ganther a few weeks ago, but if he plays well down the stretch, he may win himself a job on next year's roster.

Bruce Gradkowski's competitiveness: Since taking over for JaMarcus Russell in Week 11, Gradkowski has shown a fortitude at quarterback that Russell sometimes lacked. The Redskins' fifth-ranked pass defense will present a stiff test for Gradkowski, but regardless of what happens, it is certain the QB will give it his all.

Washington's Andre Carter has eight sacks in his last eight games. ... Redskins QB Jason Campbell has a career-high 15 TD passes this year. ... The Raiders have won four straight in the month of December. ... Oakland rookie Louis Murphy averages 17.9 yards per catch.
