Quick take: Jets hold off Dolphins

Dolphins QB Trent Green threw an interception to Jets safety Kerry Rhodes with Miami trailing 24-13 in the third quarter and driving into Jets territory. New York followed with a 15-play drive that ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by QB Chad Pennington to give the Jets a 31-13 lead. Miami rallied to get within three points, but failed to recover an onside kick.

Game balls
After sitting out Week 2 with a bum ankle, Pennington showed no signs of rust, going 15-of-22 for 124 yards and two touchdowns, and running another one in. For the Dolphins, RB Ronnie Brown had a breakout game, scoring two touchdowns on the ground and one through the air.

The Jets had a 61 percent (8-of-13) conversion rate on third down, compared to 33 percent (3-of-9) for Miami.
