Matt Ryan was off the mark on a lot of passes early in this game, but settled down to finish 22 of 36 for 229 yards and two touchdowns.

Key stat
Nine of the Falcons' 19 points came off Dolphins turnovers. Miami's plus-17 turnover ratio was tops in the league last season, but they finished the game with four turnovers (three fumbles, one interception).

Noteworthy
Falcons kicker Jason Elam missed three kicks, including an extra point and field goals from 42 and 38 yards. ... Gonzalez became the 21st player in NFL history to reach 11,000 receiving yards, reaching the milestone on his touchdown reception in the third quarter.
