Brandon Manumaleuna caught a 1-yard pass from Philip Rivers with 27 seconds left in the first half to give the Chargers a 34-7 lead. The Lions had scored on Brandon Middleton's 9-yard pass from Jon Kitna on the previous drive, but Manumaleuna's touchdown quelled any momentum the Lions might have had going into the half.

LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 116 yards on 15 attempts and two touchdowns to lead the Chargers -- all in the first half. The key run was his 49-yarder to the Lions 9-yard line late in the second quarter that set up Manumaleuna's touchdown reception. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie set a Chargers club record with his 10th interception of the season. Cromartie started the season as the fifth cornerback on the depth chart; now he's eyeing a spot in the Pro Bowl.
