Quick Take: Browns survive blizzard, Bills

It was over when ...
The Browns stopped Buffalo on fourth-and-5 at the Cleveland 10 with three seconds remaining and the Browns up 8-0. The Bills were shut out for the first time since 2003 and were also knocked out of playoff contention.

Game balls
The Browns special teams overcame terrible field conditions and driving snow to put points on the board. Kicker Phil Dawson made a 49-yard field goal through the wind that barely cleared the cross bar and hit the support pole on its way down. The Browns' other points came from another Dawson boot and a safety off a botched Bills punt in the end zone.

Key stat
Browns RB Jamal Lewis, who said he favors the cold weather, ran for a season-high 163 yards on 33 carries. It was his 34th career 100-yard rushing game and the yardage put Lewis over 1,000 yards in a season for the sixth time in his career.

Noteworthy
The last 8-0 final (entering Sunday) occurred on November 10, 1929, when the Chicago Cardinals beat the Minneapolis Red Jackets 8-0. ... The Browns have won six straight at home for the first time since 1988-89 when they won seven straight at home.
