Odell Beckham Jr. might not return until training camp

The New York Giants will remain patient with Odell Beckham Jr.

NFL Media's Kimberly Jones reported Monday that the star second-year wide receiver was not on the field with teammates as the Giants began their third week of organized team activities. Beckham sat out last week's OTAs with a sore left hamstring, the opposite hamstring that cost him all of training camp and four games in 2014.

According to Jones, Beckham will likely miss the balance of OTAs and is unlikely to take part in next week's mandatory minicamp. Beckham, whose absence is said to be precautionary, is expected to be ready for training camp.

The start of training camp is also the goal for Victor Cruz, who continues his recovery from surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his knee. Cruz has not taken part in OTAs but his rehab has gone well, according to Jones.

In an ideal scenario, the Giants will have both Beckham and Cruz for the start of training camp. If Cruz can recover fully from what was a very serious injury, the Giants should have one of the game's best 1-2 combinations at wide receiver.
