Niners sign 1st-round pick Staley

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -The San Francisco 49ers signed first-round pick Joe Staley on Tuesday, inking the offensive lineman to a five-year contract.

Staley, a left tackle at Central Michigan, was the 49ers' second pick in the opening round, the 28th overall. San Francisco is expected to use Staley at right tackle, where he has competed with Kwame Harris for the starting job during offseason workouts.

Linebacker Patrick Willis, the 11th overall pick, still hasn't signed with the 49ers, who open camp on July 29. The club has signed four of its nine draft picks overall.

The 49ers also signed tight end Zach Hilton and cornerback Markus Curry. Hilton played 15 games for New Orleans in 2005, while Curry spent parts of two seasons with San Diego.
