Nick Roach released by Raiders; career in jeopardy

Veteran linebacker Nick Roach's career is in question after eight NFL seasons.

The Raiders announced that they have waived Roach and safety Usama Young with "failed physical" designations. Young is recovering from October ACL surgery.

A 2013 starter at middle linebacker, Roach missed the entire 2014 season after suffering a concussion in an Aug. 22 preseason game.

He was still struggling with balance and vision when the Raidersplaced him on season-ending injured reserve in October.

As of last month, the San Francisco Chronicle suggested that Roach was still experiencing headaches and would not play in 2015.

If Roach, 29, has played his last NFL down, he will finish with 346 tackles and nine forced fumbles in 96 games with the Bears and Raiders.
