Relocation obstacles

The Chargers are relocating to Los Angeles. The last two teams to do relocate (2016 Rams and 1997 Oiler) kept their incumbent head coach (Jeff Fisher both times).

No team to relocate in the Super Bowl era has won more than eight games in its first season in its new location (1982 Raiders went 8-1).

Lynn's coaching style

The Bills had the NFL's top rushing attack in 2015 and 2016 under Lynn.

2015: Bills ranked 1st in yards per carry, rush yards per game and rush TDs (tied for 1st)

2016: Bills ranked 1st in yards per carry, rush yards per game and rush TDs

Perfect fit for the Chargers?

-While the Bills' run game thrived under Lynn, the Chargers' run game struggled in recent years under previous head coach Mike McCoy.

-Since 2014, Chargers have ranked 31st in rush yards per game, last in yards per carry (3.6), last in 10+ yard rushes (99) and last in rushing TDs (20).

-Lynn has overseen nine 1,000-yard rushing seasons in 14 years coaching the position (since 2003).

-The last Chargers running back to finish with a 1,000-yard season was Ryan Mathews in 2013.

NOTE: Chargers running back Melvin Gordon had 997 rushing yards in 2016.
