Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson set a new single-season receiving yardage record against the Atlanta Falcons. His effort earned him the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week for games played on Dec. 22-23, the NFL announced Friday. The GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week is the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.
Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice set a number of records many figured would never be broken. However, with a game to spare, Johnson managed to surpass one of Rice's most amazing records. With 225 yards receiving against the Atlanta Falcons, Johnson set a new single-season receiving yardage record of 1,892 yards, topping Rice's mark of 1,848 yards set in 1995.
Johnson sets new receiving record was selected from among three moments by voters on NFL.com/gmc. The other two moments were Indianapolis Colts complete surprising turnaround and Cincinnati Bengals make rare return trip to playoffs.
After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners. Fans can vote for the winner and enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.

Bengals make rare return trip to playoffs: The Cincinnati Bengals didn't let a midseason four-game losing streak dampen their playoff aspirations. With a 13-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, QB Andy Dalton and the Bengals completed a run of six wins in seven games to give the franchise its first back-to-back playoff seasons since 1981-82.
